ILWU Contract Documents

For reference and educational purposes, ILWU19Casuals.net includes here, for everyone's convenience, copies of the ILWU-PMA Contract Documents. Before we give you the links, a brief explanation may be in order. The entire contract between the ILWU Longshore Division and the Pacific Maritime Association is called the Pacific Coast Longshore and Clerks Agreement (PCL&CA), and it consists of four parts (as we understand it, at least; feel free to correct us): (1) the Pacific Coast Longshore Contract Document (PCLCD); (2) the Pacific Coast Clerks Contract Document (PCCCD); (3) the Pacific Coast Walking Bosses and Foremen's Agreement (PCWB&FA); and (4) the Pacific Coast Marine Safety Code (PCMSC).

Of these, we are primarily concerned with the PCLCD and the Safety Code or PCMSC—since most often, as casuals, those are the documents we are working under. However, it's important to know that whenever we take jobs like "checker", "yard supervisor", "clerk supervisor under the hook", etc., we are actually working under the jurisdiction of ILWU Marine Clerks Local 52 and the PCCCD. So we include the Clerks' Contract here as well, for reference.

We've also decided, for the sake of completeness, to include the Walking Bosses and Foremen's Agreement, since it's part of the overall PCL&CA.
